Where to Find It Takes Two Easter Eggs

Walk past the wrong pillow stack, and you’ll miss two familiar prisoners arguing inside a toy display. It Takes Two easter eggs reward detours with hidden dialogue, movie references, and optional trophies. This guide to It Takes Two easter eggs walks you through the standout locations and explains which interactions both players need to perform.

Rose’s Room holds the A Way Out figures and Josef Fares’ hidden speech. Cuckoo Clock includes a Zelda-inspired discovery, while The Attic turns a colorful sliding sequence into a Mario Kart tribute. Along the way, smaller diversions let you smash a piggy bank, feed seals, and take a surprisingly peaceful meditation break.

Rose’s Room: Action Figures, Hidden Audio, and a Piggy Bank

Several memorable It Takes Two easter eggs sit just outside Rose’s Room’s main route. Watch for upward paths around the pillows, then make time for the optional toys in Hopscotch.

Activate the A Way Out figures

In Pillow Fort, continue past the Tank Brothers minigame and look for a route leading upward. A flashlight provides another useful landmark: climb the pillows to its right to reach the display containing Leo and Vincent.

These are the protagonists of Hazelight’s earlier co-op adventure, A Way Out. Their conversation carries their rivalry into a much smaller setting, complete with an argument about being dolls.

To unlock Plastic Prison Breakers:

  1. Bring both players to the figures.
  2. Position each character over a button in front of the display.
  3. Ground-pound the buttons simultaneously.
  4. Stay for the dialogue.

Both players receive this trophy together. Count down before jumping so neither player triggers their button too early.

Tune into Josef Fares’ speech

During Spaced Out, reach the upper floor of the portal hub. Inside the portal area containing a tall pillow tower, use the bounce pad on the right to climb to the antenna at the top.

Interact with the antenna and move its aim around the sky. The signal meter helps you locate transmissions: adjust your aim until the bar fills and audio becomes clear.

One transmission plays Josef Fares’ profanity-filled Oscars speech from The Game Awards 2017. However, hearing that single recording is only part of the trophy task.

Faraway Frequencies requires listening to all four frequencies. Keep scanning after finding the speech, and let each transmission play before moving on. Both players receive the trophy.

The antenna makes this one of the more hands-on It Takes Two easter eggs. You have to search for the joke rather than simply walk into it.

Break the piggy bank in Hopscotch

In Hopscotch, look to the left of the Batting Team minigame for a piggy bank with four golden coins nearby.

Pick up every coin and place it into the bank. Once filled, the pig rolls over, exposing its belly. Jump onto it and break it to earn Break the Bank.

Only the player who destroys the bank receives the trophy. Restart the checkpoint afterward so your partner can repeat the interaction.

Before leaving Hopscotch, check the toy car near the section’s starting area. A Daring Devil requires launching a player through the ring above the red ramp.

Have one player sit in the car while the other pulls it back and releases it toward the ramp. Pull it roughly halfway back; a full pull sends it above the ring. Switch roles afterward if only the rider receives the trophy.

Cuckoo Clock: Find the Zelda House

The Zelda tribute is among the It Takes Two easter eggs that combine a recognizable reference with a separate trophy.

It Takes Two — Cuckoo Clock: Find the Zelda House

In Cuckoo Clock: Gates of Time, explore the outdoor town square and locate the river. Both players need to enter the boat at the end of the river.

Follow this route:

  1. Board the boat together.
  2. Travel forward along the river.
  3. Watch for a small house on the right.
  4. Enter the house with each character.

The house includes green rupees and breakable pots, echoing Link’s habit of smashing pottery while searching for valuables.

Entering unlocks Force Triangulated. Each player needs to enter personally; one character’s visit does not complete the interaction for the other.

The trophy description adds another layer through references to an ocarina, “skyward,” and “princess.” Take a moment to inspect the room rather than treating the doorway as a quick trophy trigger.

Platforming Prodigy is also located in Gates of Time. Keep both trophy names on your cleanup checklist so you can handle their separate activities during the same section visit.

Snow Globe, Garden, and Attic: Optional Secrets Worth a Detour

Beyond the crossover jokes, It Takes Two easter eggs include small activities built around the game’s oversized environments. These are easy to walk past when you and your partner are focused on the next objective.

Secret activityLocationHow to unlock its achievement
Feed the sealsSnow Globe: Beneath the IceCatch fish with a boat’s harpoons and feed them to seals
Wear a pirate hatSnow Globe: Beneath the IceOpen the pirate ship’s chest and interact with the hat
Relax in the bug spaGarden: Green FingersSit in the spa pool after the Burrower fight
Meditate above the cloudsThe Attic: SymphonySit on a stool inside the large tambourine

Feed seals and find pirate treasure

At the start of Beneath the Ice, the route takes you underwater toward a station. Exit the station and swim to the surface to explore the surrounding ice.

Near the Ice Race minigame, find a small boat equipped with two harpoons. Use a harpoon to catch a fish, then send it into a seal’s mouth to unlock Something Fishy.

Each player must feed a seal personally. Take turns rather than assuming one successful feeding completes both trophy requirements.

The same area contains a pirate ship visible in the distance. Climb aboard and locate the treasure chest behind the steering wheel. Open it, then interact to put on the pirate hat for Terror Of The Seven Seas.

Opening the chest is only part of the interaction: remember to wear the hat. Your partner needs their own turn, too.

Stop at the bug spa

After the Burrower boss fight in Garden: Green Fingers, look for the spa building and its signposted entrance.

Enter and sit in the pool to unlock Bug Sized Relaxation. Each player needs to use the pool individually.

The insect-run spa offers other little interactions, but sitting in the pool gives you a specific action to check off before continuing.

Meditate in Symphony

During The Attic: Symphony, you reach an outdoor cloud area and gain the ability to fly with a jetpack.

Look straight ahead for a large tambourine in front of the golden dome. Enter it to find two stools, then sit down to meditate.

This unlocks Meditation Maestro. Both characters should take a seat because each player must perform the interaction themselves.

Recognize Rainbow Road in Turn Up

When The Attic: Turn Up begins, the colorful sliding route evokes Mario Kart’s Rainbow Road.

The reference extends beyond the track’s appearance. If you fall, Dr. Hakim retrieves you and places you back on the course, mirroring Lakitu’s rescue role. Cody and May also comment on the setting’s familiarity.

This is a visual and gameplay tribute along the main route. Watch the rescue animation if you fall while navigating the track.

Completion Order and Co-op Trophy Checklist

Use chapter order to organize your It Takes Two easter eggs hunt, and distinguish shared unlocks from activities each player must complete.

Trophy behaviorExamplesWhat to do together
Shared unlockPlastic Prison Breakers, Faraway FrequenciesComplete the joint interaction or frequency search
Individual interactionForce Triangulated, Something FishyHave both characters perform the action
Individual interactionTerror Of The Seven Seas, Meditation MaestroTake turns wearing the hat or sitting down
Destructive interactionBreak the BankRestart the checkpoint for the second player

For a focused secret-hunting route:

  • Rose’s Room: Visit the A Way Out figures, scan all four frequencies, complete the toy car jump, and break the piggy bank.
  • Cuckoo Clock: Enter the Zelda house with both characters.
  • Snow Globe: Feed the seals and put on the pirate hat.
  • Garden: Sit in the bug spa pool.
  • The Attic: Meditate in Symphony, then watch for the Rainbow Road tribute in Turn Up.

Keep an eye out for two additional references during the story. The squirrel scientist named Q echoes James Bond’s gadget specialist. Later, a defeated toy’s thumbs-up while sinking into lava recalls Terminator 2.

For full trophy completion, you also need the other chapter-specific activities, story completion, and all 25 minigames. There are 18 chapter-specific trophy tasks overall, so finding the crossover references alone does not finish the list.

Minigames are marked by floating purple tambourines, and Chapter Select tracks which ones you have found. Use it to revisit missed sections and clean up remaining activities.
